Here i am posting the much awaited recipe i was waiting to give a try. Yes it's Pizza!! Who don't love pizza?
We normally order or dine in pizza's form Pizza hut as that's near our house. We like the combo pack which is served with salad and garlic bread, an apt combination to go with pizza. The salads served there are my favorite as they are topped with special dressings.
I have tried few salads at home, but this is the first time trying complete pizza at home. Mithu & hubby loved it and we all enjoyed to the core.

Making pizza is like an art as once the base is done then you can simply play with your creativity. The toppings can be made simple or more colorful. Now Mithu asks me to make pizza often as she knows i can make it, but for the cheese part it keeps me pulling back. I made the pizza base with 50/50 maida and wheat flour. You can also make with wheat four alone.
I referred raks kitchen for the basic pizza base and tried with my own toppings. The base recipe is sure a keeper and it's a no fail recipe. I served the pizza with Russian salad as an accompaniment . I have used the home made pizza sauce for the spread, and mixed vegetables of my choice.
Homemade Veg Pizza Recipe - Ingredients:
Preparation time : 2 hrs (including the rising time) / Cooking time: 10-12 mins / Recipe Cuisine : Italian /Recipe Reference :raks kitchen
For the Pizza Base:
All purpose flour (Maida) - 3/4 cups
Wheat flour - 3/4 cup
Instant yeast - 1 tsp (If using *dry yeast use 1 tbsp)
Milk - 1/4 cup
Warm Water - 1/4 cup
Sugar - 1/2 tbsp
Salt - 3/4 tsp
Olive oil or any oil - 1/8 cup or 2 tbsp
For the Toppings:
Pizza sauce ( I used my Home made pizza sauce) - 2 tbsp for each batch
Vegetables i used as toppings:
Capsicum (red, green,yellow & orange) - each 1/2 cubed
Onion - 1 cubed
Pitted Olives - 10 nos (Cut in circles)
Pepper or chilly flakes - 1/2 tsp (optional)
Oil - 1/2 tsp
Mozzarella cheese - to cover the toppings
Method:
1. Take a bowl and add the oil, sugar and salt to the water. Mix well for the sugar ans salt to dissolve and then add milk and yeast to it.
2. Mix well to dissolve the yeast.
3. Add the flour and bring together to form a dough. No need to knead too much. It should be soft.
4. Keep it covered with a wet cloth or aluminium foil for an hour or more.
5. After an hour it will be doubled in size.
6. Punch it and knead it to a smooth dough. You can start making the base. Just roll it using the rolling pin . Adjust the thickness according to your choice. We like the thin crust pizza so rolled it as such. I made three 8'' inch pizza base with the dough. You can also make a single 10' inch pizza base.
7. Fold the ends of the base and prick some holes for even cooking.
Your base is ready for toppings.
8. Spread the pizza sauce and spread little cheese.
9. Arrange the vegetables as per your liking . Cover the toppings with grated cheese. Slightly press the toppings.
10. You can sprinkle some pepper or chilly flakes at this stage and top with tomato sauce if desired.
For baking:
11. Line a tray with aluminum foil and transfer the prepared pizza to it. If you have a pizza pan you can proceed with it.
12. Preheat the oven to 210 deg C and bake the pizza for 10 - 12 mins. Mine got done in 10 mins.
13. Cut the with a pizza cutter or knife diagonally to make wedges and enjoy it hot with salad and garlic bread.
I really enjoyed making pizza at home and its easy to try even for a beginner. Do try this and let me know.
- Always see that once the base is ready, transfer it to the baking tray and then continue with arranging toppings. This will be mess free.
- * I used instant yeast which can be directly added to the flour . If using dry yeast or other yeast it has to be dissolved in warm water or milk and kept for 10 min in the first step. It will become frothy after 10 mins. This ensures the yeast is active. Then you can proceed adding to the flour.
- Don't roll the pizza base too thick it will become hard. While baking, the base will rise. So make it medium or thin.
- Dough should be soft .
- There is no specific measure for the cheese toppings . You can be generous or limited.
Looks delicious. Tempts us a lot. Well explained.
