I have never tasted brownies before i came here few years back. Ever since i tasted these at Baskin Robbins they became my favorites. I am not a great fan of cream cakes and so brownies always substitute it. Whatever may be the texture, either cake like, spongy, moist, dense, fudgy etc., i like them all and i like to try them too.
I was searching for a basic brownie recipe and found this to be interesting with the goodness of oats and wheat.
This is more of a cake like texture with a slight fudginess with the addition of chocolate chips. There is no eggs, no butter, no maida and made with oats & wheat makes it a complete guilt free brownie. For the fudge texture i added choco chips .
Preparation time: 30 mins / Baking time: 30-35 mins / Recipe Category: Bakes / Recipe Reference : yummytummy
Wheat flour - 1 cup
Oats - 1/2 cup (powdered)
Sugar - 3/4 cup ( I used brown sugar for a darker colour)
Cocoa powder - 5 tbsp
Baking Soda - 1 tsp
Salt - 1/4 tsp
Oil - 3 tbsp
Yogurt - 1 cup
Vanilla essence - 1 tsp (optional)
Chocolate chips - 1/2 cup
Walnuts Chopped - 3 tbsp
Walnuts Chopped - 3 tbsp
Method :
1. Preheat the oven at 180 deg C and line a 8x8 inch pan with butter paper. Brush it with little butter or oil and keep ready.
5. Melt the chocolate using *double boiler method or microwave it for 1 min and fold in the batter.
6. Fold in the walnuts.
6. Fold in the walnuts.
7. Pour the prepared batter in the pan and bake it in the preheated oven for 30-35 mins till a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
I do advice you to let it cool completely before cutting to get the perfect slices. I happened to cut just after inverting and i didn't get neat slices. This can be refrigerated for several days.
You can still enjoy it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and chocolate fudge topping. Check for my more upcoming brownie recipes.
Notes:
- *Boil water in a bowl and place chocolate chips in another bowl to fit over the bowl containing water. See that the bowl holding chocolate should not be in contact with water else it will start to scorch. Chocolate melts fast so keep in low flame. Once melted switch off.
- Yogurt reacts with soda which acts as a substitute for egg and helps the cake to rise.
- You can also make this using APF(maida) alone.
- If you are beginner in baking like me follow the correct measurements as for baking measurements are important.
